Are you someone who’s always enjoyed playing games, and been looking for an opportunity to get your foot in the door into the industry?

Announcing Town One, an incubator game jam event! Hosted by Quiver Games, Town One is a one of a kind game jam that provides participants the essential guidance, learning opportunities, and industry professionals to ensure you’re properly equipped to create your dream project!

I’m interested! Tell me more about Town One!

Town One is a 3 day game jam with the purpose of igniting a spark for something bigger. Giving you and your team the reins to bring whatever innovative ideas you have to life, Town One provides participants the stage to not only create something tangible, but also create employment ready portfolios, gain mentorship, and foster a unified game development community.

What can I expect to gain from participating?

We’re glad you asked! For those participating in Town One, expect to learn and add to your repertoire of skills and experiences the following:

  1. Practical Development

Get suited up and teamed up with other developers in the community. Develop, pitch, and present your ideas while receiving support and feedback on your work. Show us how creative and innovative you can be! Not to mention the amazing prizes you can win for participating in the grand end showcase.

2. Workshops

Hear from studio professionals and HR representatives on how to prepare for the job market, what makes a winning portfolio, and what skills you can learn to give you an unprecedented edge in the job market.

3. Mentorship

Expert developers will be there to help you succeed. Enjoy technical help in your field from people that have “been there, done that”. Form connections between students and professionals in the first environment dedicated for game development.

4. Boothing

In Town One, Vancouver’s expansive game development scene will be represented by the industry’s biggest names. Find out about their latest opportunities, submit your resumes, and learn more about what’s being developed in the Lower Mainland.

That sounds awesome but I have some more questions!*

Of course! We’ll try to compile the most frequently asked questions below:

  1. Who is this event for?

Anyone with the passion and drive to make games! This event is open for everyone regardless of experience level. As Town One is about creating holistic products, there are many opportunities for diversity in roles — meaning that we are not only looking for developers, but also those with focuses in business and marketing and beyond!

2. Do I need a team to participate?

You’ll be placed in a balanced team depending on all of the participants’ skills and experiences, so that you’ll get interdisciplinary experience from a team with a variety of skills and backgrounds. Teams are capped at a maximum of 10 people.

3. What comes with the ticket?

You’ll receive full access to the in-person venue, Quiver Games merch, free food, and a variety of activities and presentations over the weekend.

4. Will the event be COVID safe?

Town One will be enforcing all government regulations regarding hosting events in BC. All attendees must be fully vaccinated and will be asked to present their vaccine passports at the door. Masks are mandatory and must be worn at all times.
